Expanded security key support with USB-C compatibility
As Apple transitions its devices to USB-C connectors, Keeper has updated the iOS app to support hardware security keys using Apple’s security key framework. This update maintains NFC and Lightning key support while also allowing users to protect their accounts using a wider range of FIDO2-compliant devices, including:
- USB-C keys
- NFC-compatible keys
- Lightning-compatible keys
Popular options like the YubiKey 5 NFC, YubiKey 5Ci and Google Titan Security Key are supported, streamlining the process of setting up and using security keys. With these enhancements, users can enjoy robust security while maintaining security key compatibility across multiple Apple devices.
To get started, ensure you’re using the latest version of Keeper on iOS. Read our documentation on FIDO2 WebAuthn Security Keys here.
Notes: While NFC security keys are compatible with iPhones, they are not currently supported by Apple on iPads. Also, users will be able to log in directly to the KeeperFill iOS extension with their security key in most cases; however, due to limitations with Apple, some users not running iOS 18 may experience issues.

New 2FA frequency setting for added flexibility
We understand the balance between security and convenience, and that’s why we’ve introduced the 2FA Frequency setting in the iOS app, giving you more control over how often you receive two-factor authentication prompts.
To customize your 2FA prompt frequency, go to the settings menu, select 2FA Frequency and choose from the following:
- Every login – Maximum security with a prompt at each sign-in
- Every 12 hours or Every 24 hours – A balanced option for frequent access
- Every 30 days – Only for devices you trust and always have secured
- Don’t ask again on this device – Skip prompts altogether until you change this setting
When 2FA is activated on your account, Keeper will always enforce multi-factor authentication on new devices. The 2FA frequency feature allows a known device with an active session to adjust how often prompts occur. This new customizable feature ensures you can tailor your 2FA experience to match your security needs and usage patterns. Read our documentation here.
