Keeper Security is excited to announce that passphrases are now supported for mobile platforms on Android and coming soon for iOS, extending the same passphrase experience users have enjoyed in the Keeper Web Vault.
In addition, Keeper’s latest update provides enhanced autofill capabilities for long-tap autofilling and Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP) on iOS. Android users have received extended logout timer durations and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) frequency settings for more flexibility in session management.
How to use passphrases in Keeper
Passphrases are an easy to remember yet highly secure approach to logins. With this update, they can be generated and stored within Keeper across more platforms.
Keeper’s robust passphrase generator gives users the ability to create secure passphrases that are up to 20 words long, with a broad range of customizable options, including capitals and numbers in the passphrase and selecting a preferred symbol to separate the words.
Creating a passphrase is very simple and aligns with the current method leveraged to generate and store passwords in Keeper, providing a seamless experience for users.
Keeper Administrators can toggle the ability to leverage passphrases on or off for their organizations at the role level in the Admin Console. Customization and limitations set by Keeper Administrators are the same as those allowed with the Keeper Vault passphrases release.
iOS autofill capability updates
Please note that both long-tap autofill and TOTP autofill enhancements require iOS users to update their devices to iOS 18.
Long-Tap Autofill
With the latest update to Keeper’s iOS app, users can now autofill their credentials faster than ever. By simply long-tapping on any field in an app or website, Keeper allows users to autofill information such as usernames, passwords, passphrases or even TOTP codes.
To enable Keeper’s long-tap autofill functionality, select Keeper as the default autofill provider. When you long-tap on a field, a menu will appear, allowing you to select the data you’d like to fill. This further reduces the need to type long, complex passwords or codes to securely log in to apps and websites on iOS.
TOTP Autofill Enhancements
Time-based One-Time Passwords are one of the most popular 2FA methods due to their quick setup and simple functionality. In this update to Keeper’s iOS app, TOTP codes are automatically suggested when users log in to an app or website that requires one, eliminating the need to switch between apps to retrieve codes or copy and paste.
This process saves time and ensures that the login experience is as secure and smooth as you’ve come to expect from Keeper.
Android session management updates
2FA Prompt Frequency
Android users with 2FA set up on their Keeper Vault can manage how often they are prompted to sign in on their device with their selected 2FA method at any time. This allows users to select their preferred 2FA prompt frequency: every login, every 12 hours, every 24 hours, every 30 days or they can choose to not be asked again on that device.
Extended logout timer changes
Android users can now extend the duration of their forced logout from inactivity. This change addresses multiple customer requests for longer durations beyond the previous 30-minute maximum.
Logout timer options range from one minute to a maximum of two weeks. As a reminder, for enhanced security, Keeper recommends extending your logout timer only if you can ensure nobody else will access your device.
Streamline and simplify mobile logins with Keeper
Keeper remains committed to providing the most seamless and user-friendly experience for all users, regardless of their preferred platform. This update provides a unified passphrase experience, simplified 2FA logins and customer-requested changes, reinforcing our commitment to merging security and convenience for users.
