According to the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, 75% of cyber attacks involve exploiting compromised privileged credentials, making privileged access one of the most sought-after
In Keeper’s effort to improve user experience and security, we’re announcing the release of Keeper Browser Extension 17.1. This update introduces changes that provide an innovative Snapshot Tool for fast turnaround in autofill improvements, greater control over autofill behavior and support for Privileged Access Management (PAM) records.

Advanced autofill troubleshooting with Snapshot Tool
An exciting addition to the browser extension update is our new Snapshot Tool, designed to expedite the resolution of user autofill issues – especially on internal or custom websites that the Keeper engineering team can’t directly access.
The Snapshot Tool allows users to securely share a preview of a page’s structure with the Keeper team. The shared preview does not contain any credentials or confidential information to ensure a secure transmission. This tool enables Keeper to:
- Resolve site-specific autofill issues in minutes rather than days
- Train Keeper’s machine learning models to improve autofill accuracy across the web
- Fix problems with internal tools that were previously more difficult to troubleshoot
How the Snapshot Tool works
First, users need to access the Snapshot Tool, you must first enable it in the KeeperFill Extension settings located in your browser’s Extensions Menu
From Chrome, click the three dots in the top right corner, then go to Extensions > Manage Extensions > Details on the Keeper extension > Extension Options > Show Snapshot Tool.
Once enabled, if a user encounters an autofill issue, they simply follow these steps:
- Click “Take Snapshot” from the browser extension menu and take a picture of the browser screen
- Select “Preview” to review the data being sent to Keeper and ensure no sensitive information is included
- Click “Share Snapshot” to send it to the Keeper engineering team

Reminder: Keeper will NOT send credentials or confidential information. We transmit only the screenshot and HTML page structure exactly as displayed in the preview window.
Once the snapshot is securely shared, our engineers will fix the issue as quickly as possible. Autofill fixes are then immediately deployed to all customers automatically in a matter of hours, without the need to update the extension.
Customize your autofill experience
Incorporating feedback from our customers, Keeper added two new Advanced Record settings that give users additional control over how Keeper interacts with web forms.
1. Overwrite field content
This new advanced setting lets you decide whether a record’s Custom Fields should autofill into fields that already contain data. This setting is important because it gives users greater control and flexibility when dealing with prepopulated forms.
Previously, Keeper’s Custom Fields wouldn’t overwrite fields that already had data, which could be frustrating when that existing data was incorrect. Now, with this setting, users can choose to intentionally overwrite existing content with trusted values stored in Keeper on a record-by-record basis.
This is especially useful for:
- Correcting incorrect autofill data from other sources
- Ensuring consistency across complex or multistep forms
- Supporting enterprise workflows where form behavior may vary by application
This setting can be enabled on a record by clicking the record overflow menu (three dots in the top right of the record) and selecting Advanced Settings.

2. Autofill on subsequent pages
This new setting lets you control whether Keeper should attempt to autofill on pages that follow your initial login page and helps prevent unintended or incorrect autofill behavior, especially on websites that have multiple pages with similar or repeating fields.
By disabling this feature, users can prevent Keeper from automatically filling credentials on secondary or follow-up pages where autofill isn’t needed or could cause confusion.

With these two improvements, users now have greater control over their autofill experience, with the ability to determine whether custom fields should overwrite preexisting data on website forms and whether subsequent pages after an initial login page should be autofilled.
Enhanced support for privileged access management records
Keeper now provides expanded support for multiple PAM record types, such as Remote Browser, Directory, Database, Machine and User records, directly within the browser. This enhancement makes it easier for IT administrators and security teams to view sensitive record information directly in the browser extension.

KeeperPAM is a next-gen privileged access management solution that secures and manages access to critical resources, including servers, web apps, databases and workloads. Learn more about KeeperPAM®.
Commitment to continuous improvement
These enhancements reflect Keeper’s ongoing commitment to creating a platform experience that adapts to market needs while maintaining the highest security standards. The Snapshot Tool represents a major step forward in our ability to quickly address issues and continuously improve our autofill technology through AI and machine learning, while the record-specific improvements enable users to customize their experience and always have the info they need readily accessible.
We encourage users to update to Browser Extension 17.1 to take advantage of this powerful new functionality. As always, we welcome your feedback as we continue to evolve the Keeper platform.
